Whitsell Innovations, Inc. at West Virginia University, School of Pharmacy for a Presentation on Career Opportunities in Medical Communications

Mary Ellis Bogden, Technical Writer and CMC Consultant at Whitsell Innovations (WI), Inc., a full-service medical, scientific and technical writing company headquartered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, visited with doctoral scholars in pharmaceutical sciences at WVU School of Pharmacy after her presentation entitled “Scope of Career Opportunities of Medical Communications.” Ms. Ellis Bogden addressed technical and medical writing for pharmaceutical, biotech and device companies including the documentation required for submissions to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during the preclinical and clinical development process. In addition, Ms. Ellis Bogden discussed how industry clients use technical writers to author internal and external documentation that is compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practices in support of pharmaceutical active ingredients, finished product, and devices.
“The scientific background and research experience that these students are gaining is valuable to the pharmaceutical industry. Good technical writing stems from the writer’s ability to interpret and relate the research or data in a manner that is well understood by the intended audience,” says Ms. Ellis Bogden.
