Robin Whitsell, Founder and President of Whitsell Innovations (WI), Inc., a certified woman-owned full-service medical and scientific writing company headquartered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was an invited speaker at Duke University. She presented “Scope of Career Opportunities of Medical Communications” and visited with graduate students, PhD candidates, and post-doctoral scholars in life sciences following her presentation.
“Robin Whitsell gave Duke postdocs an informative overview of careers in medical communications, her background as an industry medical writer, and her path to starting her own medical writing company,” says Molly Starback Director, Office of Postdoctoral Services at Duke University. “After discussing the scope of career opportunities available in medical communications, Ms. Whitsell presented information on the Whitsell Innovations internship program, a valuable learning opportunity for postdocs interested in medical communications careers.”
Ms. Whitsell addressed medical writing for pharmaceutical, biotech, and device companies including the documentation required for submissions to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during the pre-clinical and clinical development process. In addition, Ms. Whitsell discussed how industry clients use medical writers to share clinical data in manuscripts, training materials, and presentations.
“Advancement of the perception of the life science industry and the scholarship of medical writing is a core value of WI,” says Ms. Whitsell. “We appreciate the opportunity to interact with these scholars.”
