Whitsell Innovations, Inc. Founder and President to present at Drug Information Association (DIA) 2014 50th Annual Meeting.

Robin Whitsell, Founder and President of Whitsell Innovations (WI), Inc., will be presenting at the Drug Information Association (DIA) 2014 50th Annual Meeting being held from June 15 through June 19, 2014 in San Diego, California.

Ms. Whitsell’s workshop is entitled “The Twitter Value Proposition for Life Science Professionals” and is scheduled for Monday, June 16 from 8:30 to 10:00 am, PST.  Her presentation will highlight the use of social media, in specific Twitter, among life science professionals and corporations.  The focus of the presentation will be familiarizing the audience with the use of this tool and understanding the compliance issues associated with it, including discussion of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Draft Guidance issued January of 2014: Fulfilling Regulatory Requirements for Postmarketing Submissions of Interactive Promotional Media for Prescription Human and Animal Drugs and Biologics.

“Social media is a relatively new tool for the life sciences industry,” says Ms. Whitsell. “As we are so highly-regulated, engagement in media sources that are meant to be interactive is intimidating. Missteps by corporations have been cited by the FDA. However, patients and patient advocacy groups are active in social media. Life sciences corporations need to understand best practices in joining that conversation.”
