Chapel Hill, NC – 23 January 2020 – Whitsell Innovations, Inc. Writers received AMWA Fellowship awards and accepted national leadership positions at the 2019 American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) Medical Writing & Communication Conference.

Whitsell Innovations, (WI), Inc., is pleased to announce that two of WI’s writers – Elise Eller, PhD, and Ann Winter-Vann, PhD – were awarded AMWA Fellowships at the 2019 AMWA Medical Writing & Communication Conference, Trends and Opportunities for Medical Communicators, November 6-9, 2019, at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, San Diego, California.

The AMWA fellowships recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to AMWA and the medical writing profession.

Elise has been an AMWA member since 2009 and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter. Within her chapter, she has held several leadership roles including chair of the Nominating Committee and Colorado Education Director. She also served 4 terms as chapter president. At the national level, Elise has chaired the Chapter Handbook Committee and served on the Chapter Advisory Council Task Force and the Chapter Support Committee. She currently serves on the Constitution & Bylaws Committee and is an at-large director on the AMWA Board of Directors. She also has led open sessions at AMWA annual Medical Writing & Communication Conferences and has written for AMWA Journal.

“It is an honor to receive this fellowship. AMWA has done so much for me, and it’s a pleasure to return the favor and serve. Chairing the Annual Conference Program Committee is a privilege and an exciting opportunity,” says Dr. Eller.

Ann has been an AMWA member since 2007 and is a member of the Carolinas Chapter. In her chapter, she has served as president-elect, president, conference coordinator, and board delegate. At the national level, she has served on the Nominating Committee, Constitution & Bylaws Committee, Regulatory Action Advisory Group, and chaired the AC Program Committee. She has led open sessions at the AMWA annual Medical Writing & Communication Conferences and the Carolinas Chapter Conference and has written 3 articles for AMWA Journal. She currently serves on the Nominating Committee and is the board liaison to the Workforce Training Committee.

Also during the 2019 conference, Ann was sworn in as current AMWA President.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as AMWA’s President. It’s particularly meaningful to be able to give back to this organization and its members, who have given me so much over the years. We have a lot going on in the coming year, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” says Dr. Winter-Vann.

The American Medical Writers Association supports those in the medical communications field. It provides opportunities to expand writers’ professional network, offer access to medical writing resources and publications, and host professional development workshops and seminars, including the annual conference.
